The Parish Council - Parish Plan

The Parish Plan is a project to improve the quality of life within the village. It was initiated and is supported by the Parish Council.

The project was started in early 2003 with informal meetings within the village. People were asked to write down aspects of Duffield village life which could be improved. All of the schools and the local organisations were involved.

The plan has been partly funded by a grant from the The Countryside Agency (if you would like to read more about the scheme follow the link) and partly by local donations and volunteer support. In order to obtain the grant an estimate of costs was prepared and submitted in September 2003: Parish Plan Budget

A Steering Committee was set up to look at these responses and certain areas were identified which needed to be investigated.

Working Groups were set up under the following headings.

  • Transport
  • Environment & Way of Life
  • Sport & Entertainment
  • Business & Organisations
  • Youth
  • Post Retirement & Home Bound People

Using local people and local initiative a questionnaire was compiled. This was distributed to all of the households within the village, offering them the opportunity to comment on issues that affect their daily life. The responses have been analysed and the results presented to the Parish Council. They are reviewing the recommendations
